akademie at the staatskapelle berlin

every two years, there is the opportunity to become a member of the academy of the staatskapelle berlin. opportunities include taking part in concerts with world renowned conductors such as daniel barenboim, pierre boulez and zubin mehta. the orchestra has a regular subscription series consisting of eight concerts, performed at the philharmonie and konzerthaus in berlin. past tours have included concert and opera productions in china, japan, spain, argentina, brazil, vienna, new york, paris and london. as member of the academy you will have the opportunity to play 2nd harp on many of these tours. in order to apply for this position, you must have finished your studies and be under 28 years of age at the time of the audition. members of the academy are given 87 hours of free tuition during each season. more information about the academy can be found under

Stephen Fitzpatrick after initial lessons in his native North Wales, he was accepted as a student at the Royal College of Music in London with Marisa Robles. Further studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Edward Witsenburg culminated with a performance diploma in addition to the degree and teaching diploma already attained in London.
